A family of Trinidadian chinense superhots, said to be hot enough to season seven pots of stew. Includes 7 Pot Primo, Douglah and Bubblegum. Wrinkled, bumpy pods.

The pigment behind purple leaves, stems and pods in varieties like Filius Blue. Often deepens with stronger sunlight.

The genus all chillies and sweet peppers belong to, part of the nightshade family. Dozens of species are recognised; five have been domesticated.

The first generation from crossing two different parents. Uniform and often vigorous, but seed saved from it won't come true.

When a seed swells, splits and puts out its first root. Most chillies want steady warmth around 25-30°C; chinense types can take three weeks or more.

Growing without soil, with roots fed from a nutrient solution. Fast and clean, but pH and nutrient strength need watching.
